If you are looking to make a few extra dollars in a hurry without being tied to a set schedule Uber is a fantastic option.
Recently, I experimented with driving for Uber and was impressed with its ease of use and potential.
Below are 6 tips I learned from reading Harry Campbell’s website, The Ride Sharing Guy, and from my own experimentation.
Tip 1 – Keep bottled water and individually packaged snacks handy in your car. Keep them in your car all the time instead of only when you plan on going out to drive for Uber. Keep these items in your car so you don’t have to panic at the last minute when your phone starts ringing from a driver.
Tip 2 – Keep your car clean. Keep the inside and outside of your car clean. Earn a good review and more future riders by making a good first and second impression. It is nice driving around in a clean car even if you are the only in the car. There is a $3 car wash in my neighborhood. There is most likely something similar in yours.
Tip 3 – Keep you car gassed up. I once had the Uber app on and go to my car and realized I had almost no gas. Not fun. eep your car gassed up is that you don’t know how far your rider will be going and how soon you will be driving another passenger so just gas up your tank before turning your app on. The worst that happens is your car is full of gas and you have no passengers but you have a full tank to get to and from work.
Tip 4 – Use the destination mode to pick people up on your way somewhere. If you are already heading somewhere why not earn a few extra dollars while picking someone up going to the same place? Just activate your destination mode inside the app.
Tip 5 – Be polite. This might sound common sense. It isn’t. Open the door for your riders. Say Hello. Offer them some of your mints, snacks, and drinks.
Tip 6 – Get to a large city. You are much more likely to find riders in a major city. Do you live near Chicago or another big city? You will have competition but you will also have more potential for riders.
It is incredibly easy to get started on Uber. Get started driving today by downloading the app and entering all of your driver and vehicle information.
